Fiber Optic Technician
Description: Prep, splice, test, and document fiber optic networks
- Location-greater Los Angeles area with out of state travel required
- Major Tasks and Responsibilities include: Splice various fiber optic cables including loose tube, uni-tube, ribbon and micro fiber in either fusion or direct termination. Prep fiber cables and enclosure. Testing of various networks, trouble shooting. Documenting all work performed, preparing test documents, and unit tracking.
- Requirements: 3-5 years of experience with fiber optic splicing. Strong computer skills with Microsoft applications along with EXFO test equipment experience, Nettest a plus. through knowledge of methods for prepping various fiber optic cables (loose tube, uni-tube, ribbon, etc.) as well as various types of enclosures (Tyco, Coyote, 3M, etc.). extensive experience in splicing both Fusion and mechanical, as well as polishing and direct termination. Ability to trouble shoot and identify problems on a variety of networks. Strong aptitude for reading maps, schematics, and general problem solving. Must be able to work independently as well as part of a crew. Must exude good organizational skills and documenting work performed. Must have a valid drivers license, clean driving record, and be willing to travel.
